Etihad Commences Services to South Korean Capital

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, inaugurated its first ever service to South Korea, from Abu Dhabi to Seoul’s Incheon International Airport. Seoul has become Etihad’s 65th destination on the network in its seven years of operations.

The airline will operate a daily A330-200 airplane with a three-class service (Diamond First class: 10 seats, Pearl Business class: 26 seats, Coral Economy class: 164 seats) offering 2,800 seats each week on the route. The new service will operate under an Etihad Airways (EY) and Asiana (OZ) flight code, following the code-share agreement signed between the two airlines in October 2010. Guests of Etihad Airways wanting to travel from Pakistan to South Korea will be able to avail this new service via Abu Dhabi.

Etihad Airways Chief Executive Officer, James Hogan, said: “We are delighted to commence services to South Korea, which has been a target destination for us for some time. There is a strong relationship between South Korea and the United Arab Emirates, built over a 40-year history of bilateral trade relationships between the countries. We are confident this new route will be a success for both our passenger and cargo operations, and we look forward to facilitating business and leisure traffic between the two countries. The services have been made possible with the support of the UAE Government and General Civil Aviation Authority as well as the South Korean Government and its Civil Aviation Authority. We are grateful for the support shown to Etihad and look forward to a successful service,””

South Korea is an emerging key trading partner for Pakistan. Korean companies have maintained a strong presence in Pakistan, particularly in the energy sector, construction and technology.
