ZTE Claims 7% of LTE Essential Patents

Citing data from the ETSI IPR database, China’s ZTE has announced that it has a 7 percent share of the total LTE essential patents declared on the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) database as of the end of last November.

As of the end of 2010, ZTE had submitted more than 6800 proposals to 3GPP, of which more than 3900 proposals involved LTE/SAE technologies, and had made more than 2900 LTE-related patent applications.

Looking ahead, ZTE said that it aims to increase its current share of LTE essential patents from 7% to 10% by 2012.

  • InterDigital Patent Holdings – 13%
  • Qualcomm 13%
  • InterDigial Technology – 11%
  • Nokia – 9%
  • Samsung – 9%
  • Huawei – 8%
  • Ericsson – 8%
  • ZTE – 7%
  • LG Electronics – 6%
  • NTT Docomo – 5^
  • Others – 11%
