Nepal’s three mobile networks have reported that some 25 million text messages were sent during the 10-day Dashain festival – a sharp rise on the previous year.

China Unicom reported that its 3G subscriber base rose by 1.043 million in September.

The CEO of Digicel Honduras, Ghada Gebara has announced her resignation from the company to set up her own company. Her position will be filled by Digicel’s regional CEO, Damian Blackburn.

Tele2 Croatia has announced plans to upgrade its 3G network to support 21 Mbps download speeds in the major Croatian cities by the end of the year.

MTN Nigeria has signed an agreement with Huawei to extend its network to about 350 uncovered Nigerian villages and communities.

Digicel says that it is dispatching a plane loaded with vital relief supplies to assist the people of Haiti. Digicel Haiti has also activated a dedicated customer care centre and SMS service where customers can get important information and updates on the situation for free.
